To Meegan & all IKEA fans,

Earlier today I’ve received an email from Meegan for a very interesting question about IKEA. I decided to post it here as an open letter for all IKEA fans.

I was so excited when I found your blog!

I am an Ikea lover who has already driven a truck 1,300 miles (from
Atlanta to South Florida) full of Ikea furniture. Well, now we have an
Ikea opening up in Sunrise, Florida! Excitement!

Here is my question…

Of course I am planning to be one of those in line to make my way into
Ikea on opening day. However, I have heard rumor of a large gift card
given to the very first person in line. If this is true, I will be
making plans for my very own Ikea camp-out. Do you know how I can find
out if this rumor is true?

Thank you for your help!

Dear Meegan,

Although IKEA is a global wide cooperation, each store has it’s own unique design and each of them will have their own idea of how to run the store. As for our store, the first visitor gets a T-shirt printed “I was the first one slept at IKEA” along with a gift card. (I am not sure the exact amount). The first 100 visitor all got a T-shirt printed “I slept at IKEA". The first 100 kid visitors all got a soft toy.

I believe your local store will have some sort of promotions on radio, TV and newspaper with their ideas of the grand opening. You might just want to keep a close eye on that one. Also, if you happen to know someone who is working for your local store during the build up, they should know details about the grand opening a week of ahead.

I totally know how you feel about the opening. I waited a whole year for them to open too. Now all I can say is enjoy and have fun with it!:D

Regards,
Anne
