Most people who shops for IKEA bed will get confused about the midbeam. What is it and what does it do? Do we really need it? Let’s talk about the HAMAR(midbeam) today.
Hamar is a metal piece that goes in the center of your bed to support box spring or wooden slats. The length is adjustable so that will work on all full/double, queen and king size beds. As long as your bed is full/double, queen or king size, you will need it with couple exceptions: (Both mandal beds don’t require the midbeam. The other bed that doesn’t require midbeam is Dalselv.)
The cost for hamar is $10. Price usually included in every display price. You do have to pick it up separately though. A lot of people got upset after they assemble their bed and found out that their bed is not completed without that piece. (No wonder why, right? )
If you are planning buying a bed from IKEA, do your research first. And of course, don’t forget to grab the critical piece- hamar midbeam.
