If you are thinking about remodeling your house, esp. right now, you are one of the lucky ones. But it’s a smart move no matter what house mark we are standing in. Kitchen remodeling can be extremely expensive. Average kitchen remodel cost between $15,000 - $26,000. Some of the big ticket items are cabinets, counter tops, and appliances. First thing we did when we remodeled our house in 2006 was checking out the price for cabinets. Custom cabinets cost 55k or above, semi-manufacture cabinet from home depot or lowes cost around 10k. What other options? The IKEA kitchen. Here are some reasons why we choose IKEA kitchen.

1. Unbeatable price
For most people, price is the number one reason why they choose to install IKEA kitchen in their house. It’s simply unbeatable. Cabinets account for about half the total cost of the project and will have the greatest impact on your budget. You can get a brand new IKEA 10X10 kitchen cabinet starting as little as 1000 dollars. You can’t even refacing with some manufacture with that kind of money. Many people have reported that they use kitchen cabinets to save money on their kitchen project then spend the money on other high end finishes.

2. Low price doesn’t mean low quality
If you think IKEA kitchen is one of those “you get what you pay for", you might want to think again. Low price doesn’t always result low quality. Here is a quote:

IKEA rated overall at number 4. Here’s a basic breakdown…
Rating; brand/line; Retailer; Type; Price; Overall score
1. Omega; Expo; Premium; $1,055; high excellent
2. Fieldstone; Expo; Premium; $1,020; excellent
3. Diamond; Lowe’s; Premium; $630; high very good
4. Ikea; Ikea; Basic; $290; high very good
5. Thomasville; Home Depot; Midlevel; $500; very good
6. Shenandoah; Lowe’s; Midlevel; $434; very good
7. Kraftmaid, several retailers; Midlevel; $510; low very good

You see, lower price doesn’t always mean lower quality.
