One recent email I got from a reader is interested in remodeling their 1970’s kitchen. After seen few cool promotions on TV, they are wondering how much IKEA kitchen cabinet will cost them? Well, I thought it is a very good question so I’d like to share the answer with everyone of you.

The major cost of remodeling a kitchen can be break down to cabinet, counter top, appliances, flooring, back splash. The list goes on and things could get really complicated. (But you do need to have a complete list to help you budget if you want to gut your kitchen.) We are only going to talk about the IKEA kitchen cabinet part today to give you an idea.

Quick overview:
IKEA kitchen cabinet, standard 10′X10′ starts at only $999. The most expensive finish you will be able to find is $169/lin.ft. ($3380 for a 10′X10′ kitchen.) There are five finishes this year that had new lower price. You save $10-20 dollar per lin.ft. (It’s amazing, isn’t?) So the range is: $999-3,380for a 10′X10′ kitchen. Not too bad compare to semi-manufactured kitchen cabinets. (Usually anywhere from $8,000-25,000)

Remember couple days ago we made a post: Can you recognize this cabinet? One of our reader Kat happened to recognize the picture from one of IKEA Hacker’s post.

Turns out, our guess was right!

it is actually a kitchen counter top (pronomen) and kitchen wall cabinets (faktum with ärlig doors)

Q: Can you recognize those cabinets in this picture?

Our reader Joe sent us an email asking about those cabinets in the picture above. (Nice set up!) However, since there are so many different cabinets in IKEA, it is so hard to tell which one is the right one in the picture without any more details. If you happen to recognize them, send us your answer at support@ikeans.com

Our guess: Either they are kitchen cabinets (AKURUM/ RATIONELL) or they are bathroom cabinets (Vattern).

If the height you are looking for is 36-38 inches,(including legs) then I would use akurum/ cabinet. If the height you are looking for is 24-30 inches then I’d use bathroom cabinets. Either one has the same door to go with them.
